Frequently Asked Questions

What is Germanium Digital?
Germanium Digital facilitates partial, or fractional, ownership of exclusive, premium timepieces typically inaccessible due to significant capital requirements and limited availability.

Our analysts perform rigorous, data-driven research to acquire luxury timepieces with exceptional prospects for return. These assets are acquired, stored securely and represented as fractions for individual ownership.
What is fractionalization?
Fractionalization is the process of representing an asset as parts. Fractions are stored as unique tokens on the blockchain and have provable scarcity and ownership. When you buy a fraction, you become the owner of a piece of the underlying asset (a specific luxury watch held securely by Germanium Digital).
Where are the physical assets stored?
Germanium Digital holds the assets (on behalf of fraction owners) in secure storage in our vault in Switzerland. This environment is temperate and humidity controlled to ensure that the watches maintain their condition during the period they are kept in trust.
When are watches sold?
The watches we hold are carefully appraised for their rarity and status, and which we judge will appreciate at the greatest rate. Assets are typically held for 3 to 5 years. Using a combination of market data and our own internal metrics, we then offer the asset for sale to external bidders to yield the highest possible return, which is then paid to the Fraction holders of that asset.
Why shouldn't I just buy a watch and hold it?
Our domain knowledge of the luxury market means we are able to source watches that might otherwise be unavailable to the general buyer. Additionally, the high cost of the very best assets means that outright ownership can be prohibitively expensive. Fractionalization gives you more flexibility in your level of exposure, and takes away the problems of securely storing and maintaining your investment.
How much does a fraction cost and how many can I buy?
The price of fractions depends on the asset it represents. Assets typically have 10,000 unique fractions, and each fraction for a given asset has the same price during the sale window. The purchase price of each asset is divided by the number of fractions to compute the cost of a single fraction. You can buy any number of fractions, provided the number purchased are still available.
How can I buy a fraction?
You can make payment using the following methods:

  • Credit or debit card
  • Bank transfer
  • USDC cryptocurrency (ERC20 tokens on the Ethereum or Polygon chains only)

  • Most credit and debit cards automatically convert foreign currencies to the domestic currency using their exchange rate, and payments can be made in Euros (EUR), Naira (NGN) or US dollars (USD).
